Keeping the tank full, and the water and discs clean, is a major chore. You start to wonder how much it can be cleaning your air, when the water turns green after a couple of days. I don’t really buy into the “silver ion technology” gimmick. Save yourself some hassle and money, and just a plain old humidifier.

I wish I had known about this product before I went to Japan. It works great, and is so quiet. Doesn’t fog up the whole place but keeps it humid. We love it!

We have an earlier model Air-o-Swiss. We have been happy with its performance but it had the drawback that it was not possible to clean around the fan. We contacted the company and the new model has been redesigned so that the housing around the fan comes off for easy cleaning.
However, in streamlining the look the water tank was also re-designed. Because of its rounded shape it is difficult to fill since it does not lie flat on a counter. The positioning of the filler is odd, too, since it doesn’t let you fill the tank all the way up. We have also noticed that it is tricky to put the tank back on.
Both units operate very quietly but both also tend to make pretty loud “glugging” noises now and then as the water flows out of the tank and air flows in (like a water cooler when you fill a cup). The new model seems louder in this regard than the older and since we use it in the bedroom there are times when the noise is loud enough to wake us. It sometimes sounds like someone knocking on the door – quite disturbing in the middle of the night when one is only partly awake!
Overall, though, this is a good machine and works well to clean and humidify the air.

I purchased this humidifier online from the Air-o-Swiss website. It arrived clearly misassembled and damaged. I can’t believe they didn’t look in the box before shipping it to me (the IRS could straighten these guys out, too). After figuring out what was wrong, I sent emails with photos and explanations, had many discussions, and was told they would get back to me. They never did and are now after 30 days refusing to let me return the unit. After repairing it myself, it doesn’t produce enough humidity to get a forced-air heated room up to 30% RH (45% is recommended). It does evaporate the whole reservoir overnight, so I think the problem is simply that it only holds one gallon. Need a larger reservoir, but the problem there is you have to fill it. Also, a humidistat is a must-have. As a sidenote, if you need to get a separate hygrometer, go digital, analogs are inaccurate no matter how often you calibrate them. Finally, my best advice is just get a furnace-mounted whole house unit and skip these portable units if you’re looking to increase humidity by more than a few percent.

I deperately needed a nightime humidifier to help me breathe while I slept. After reading the buyer comments on Amazon, I settled on the Air-O-Swiss 2055. It is by far,the best humidifier I have ever used. The ionizing really works, and my breathing is free and deep, in a 20X17′room.
My only concern is the maintenance. I’m definitely not a Harry Homeowner, and the instructions for keeping it functional give me visions of a bothersome hassle. I hope I’m wrong because it’s an invaluable aid to a full night’s sleep.
